I am not sure whether Wiki is the best place for discussions. It is "Wisdom" rather than discussion "oriented".
Many Wiki pages start off as discussions and are refactored into wisdom. The good thing about them, when compared to mailing lists, is that the people who are not interested in that particular discussion topic/thread are not bothered with tons of noisy mails. --

But with Wiki I have to keep polling the page instead of being notified by eMail. @:(
Did you notice the "Add or remove your email from this page's mailList" link at the bottom of each Wiki page? @;)
